Zubu Chon is one of the most populated restaurants in Cebu, bukod dun sa dimsum resto ( can't remember the name) . Every major area in Cebu houses this resto, so you won't have difficulty finding it.
Their lechon was made popular by Anthony Bourdain' s comment "best pig...ever!", which he let out on one episode of his hit show No Reservations. The episode was about the Filipino cuisine and his trips around the Philippines.
Who would not want to try that pig for themselves, right? So we tried it.
The one my friends and I ate at, was at the One Mango Mall. For more store locations, click this link.
It was lunch time when we came, so the place was packed with people.
This shelf displays jams, chicharon, nuts and other items,
which you can eat or buy as pasalubong.
The resto tries to take on twists and incorporating their lechon to the usual Filipino comfort food.
Me and the gang.
The Menu
And of couse, "the lechon".
The lechon has a very tasty and crispy skin, you can see the spices
that were rubbed in the skin which made it flavorful.
The meat lacks flavor by a bit, and is a bit oily.
Expect the oil at the bottom of the plate, once you've finished eating.
This was my part of our meal.
We ordered sinigang na hipon, zubu chon and ginisang kang kong.
I enjoyed eating it, especially the lechon and the crispy balat.
We also tried on their desserts and unusual fruit shakes.
The dulce de leche of this banana turon was yummy.
But the turon itself lacks flavor.
This is a duhat shake. Its texture was a bit sandy.
Go try this one, if you're the type of person who enjoys
the "not typical" kind of drinks.
This is a pineapple-mint shake.
There was nothing special about the taste.
Its a pineapple shake with a bit of mint.
This drink I liked the most. Its a grape shake.
The grapes were fresh and the drink was very refreshing.
Perfect for any weather.
The halo-halo was a "ok". The typical halo-halo. Nothing special.
Thank you for the view.
Watch out for more posts.
See yah! :)
