Margaret Thatcher

This post I did as a tribute to Margaret Hilda Thatcher, Baroness Thatcher.

I came to know her through the movie "The Iron Lady".

I was inspired of how she carried herself to the top using all her
determination and intelligence, coming from a small town,
she became Prime Minister (the only woman to-date) and
changed Great Britain. She gave equality to people which was
once dominated by the elites, got Britain through tough times when there has
been a huge economic problem, fought wars internationally
and fought battles within herself.

All these she did, plus many more. I'm not an expert about her life story and achievements, but you can read more about her here.

And yes, she had a family to top it all.

I was so heartbroken when I learnt about what happened to her after the death
of her husband, who has been his very loyal partner, best friend and lover.
How she struggled to move on from the pain and the reality that she is old,
and no longer the most powerful woman in Britain. Facing the old age alone.

I'm happy that she finally had peace and finally took a rest.
All her hard work and contributions, will not be forgotten and will
become a legacy, and will be told for generations to come.

Here are some of her quotes that made an impression on me:

"If you just set out to be liked, you would be prepared to compromise on anything at any time, and you would achieve nothing." - Margaret Thatcher

"What is success? I think it is a mixture of having a flair for the thing that you are doing; knowing that it is not enough, that you have got to have hard work and a certain sense of purpose."  - Margaret Thatcher

"If you want something said, ask a man; if you want something done, ask a woman." - Margaret Thatcher

"I've got a woman's ability to stick to a job and get on with it when everyone else walks off and leaves it."
- Margaret Thatcher

"Being powerful is like being a lady. If you have to tell people you are, you aren't."  - Margaret Thatcher

"Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction."  - Margaret Thatcher

"Any woman who understands the problems of running a home will be nearer to understanding the problems of running a country."  - Margaret Thatcher

"I do not know anyone who has got to the top without hard work. That is the recipe. It will not always get you to the top, but should get you pretty near."  - Margaret Thatcher

"To wear your heart on your sleeve isn't a very good plan; you should wear it inside, where it functions best."
- Margaret Thatcher

The Last one, and the quote I liked most:

“Where there is discord, may we bring harmony. Where there is error, may we bring truth. Where there is doubt, may we bring faith. And where there is despair, may we bring hope.”
- Margaret Thatcher

You will not be forgotten.... :)
